As part of Freedom. Safety. Now!, SAWCC’s movement-based protest action that emerged in response to the 2012 fatal rape of Jyoti Singh Pandey in Delhi, India, the organization has developed Movement to Power to address issues of women’s sexual freedom and safety, specifically addressing violence in Asian American communities. SAWCC will take the performance to NYU for Gender Violence Awareness Week and API Heritage Month.
